☀️ July News 🕶
Mr. Brown's Retirement Event SAVE THE DATE! We are planning a picnic style event for Sunday August 8, 2021 11 am - 2 pm at Northgate HS to give everyone a chance to wish Greg Brown a Happy Retirement. All Northgate Instrumental students and their families, past and present, are invited to attend. We will have catered tacos, ice cream, cake and of course awesome music performed by our students and alumni. We'll also feature DJ Sammy. We are asking for a $5 donation per person. Please bring your own camping style chair if you have one. We also are in need of easy ups for shade. Students and alumni are encouraged to put together combo groups to perform at the event. Please contact Heather-Ann LeBlanc, NIMB Past President and Coordinator for this event, at firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the program.
New Music Director!
We are delighted to announce that a new Instrumental Music Director has been found - Roberto Garcia-Leiva. Our junior and senior students and families may remember Mr. Garcia-Leiva from his time as a student teacher with Mr. Brown in the 2019-2020 school year. In the time he spent with us, Mr. Garcia-Leiva demonstrated his strong musicianship and passion for teaching and established a great rapport with our student musicians. We look forward to a great year and NIMB will do all that we can to help.
New NIMB President
At the June 1, 2021 Board Meeting John Zamarripa was elected as our new NIMB President. John was been our Vice President this past year and has been one of our chief Roadies since his son Sebastian (trombone player in wind Ensemble and Jazz I and this year's Senior BOSS president) joined the program three years ago. Thank you John for taking over the helm!

NIMB Board Vacancies - We Need You! NIMB is a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the Northgate Instrumental Music Program, in order to do this effectively we need the help of as many parents and guardians as possible. At the end of the 2019-2020 school year we lost almost half of our Board Members whose children graduated from Northgate. The pandemic shut down affected our ability to fill those positions and we have even more openings now with the graduation of the Class of 2021.
Most of the positions we need filled are behind the scenes organizational work, things you can take care of at home. We would really like to have a fully staffed NIMB Board in place for the new Instrumental Music Director to make a smoother transition in the Instrumental Music Program. Please seriously consider helping us in the following areas:
Transportation Coordinator. This position involves organizing and contracting buses to take students to music festivals and other events.
Class Representatives. Each class in the program has a Parent Representative to coordinate communications and volunteers for class specific events/ information. Our current classes are: Concert Band (freshman parent), Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Jazz Band II, Jazz Band I.
Treasurer We need someone to keep the account books for NIMB and oversee monetary transactions. A background in accounting is not necessary, but some experience as a treasurer for another volunteer organization would be helpful. We have a Finance Committee to support this job.
Vice President. We need someone here to help out the president as needed, ideally someone who expects to have students in the program for several more years, as our president is the parent of a senior and it would make the transition smoother next year if we have someone learning the ropes now.
Jobs can be shared by more than one person and we are here to offer help and support to new recruits! Please contact us at email@example.com to sign up to help our amazing Student Musicians.
